Important information about Demand CS insecticide applications for interior residential structures
Changes to how Demand® CS insecticide may be applied indoors in residential structures are now in effect.
These changes are a result of the completed re-evaluation of lambda-cyhalothrin by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), affecting products formulated with this active ingredient – including Demand® CS insecticide from Syngenta (Reg. No. 27428). Effective April 29, 2023, amended label directions apply to indoor uses of Demand CS in residential structures:
- Demand CS must not be applied when people or animals are present. Do not allow people or animals to enter treated areas until sprays have dried.
- Demand CS may only be used as a crack and crevice treatment in residential structures. Residential structures include but are not limited to:
- Homes, garages, schools, restaurants, hotels and motels, and public buildings
- Crack and crevice applications must be made directly into narrow openings on the surface of the structure. These openings typically occur at expansion joints, utility entry points, and along baseboards and mouldings.
- Do not apply to exposed surfaces or make indoor perimeter applications.
- Broadcast, perimeter or spot treatments are not permitted.
- Crack and crevice treatments are also permitted to the junction points of hard surface furniture, such as bed frames, headboards, dressers, cupboards, etc.
- Do not apply to soft surfaces of furniture, mattresses, linens, pet bedding, toys or clothing.
- Any residues deposited on non-target surfaces must be removed by the applicator.
- Treated areas must be dry before replacing stored items.
